Nido Seattle can match WWPL unbeaten streak on Sunday against holders Kirkland FC

Nido Aguila Club America Seattle have never lost a Western Washington Premier League (WWPL) match. The Eagles went 6-0-4 in their 2019 debut and this year they are already 4-0-0, pushing their unbeaten streak in league play to 14 matches on a 10-0-4 trot. The record for longest unbeaten streak in the WWPL is 15 matches, held over two seasons by Kirkland Goats FC. Guess which two teams meet up this Sunday May 9 at Ingraham High School? It will be the Eagles against the Goats at 3:30 PM. Nido posted a 5-0 win over KFC back on April 10.

The Kirkland Goats began their life as a club with a rousing 11-0-1 season back in 2018 when they won the WWPL Championship. That unbeaten league season was followed up in 2019 with three more wins out of the gate. One might have wondered if the Goats would ever lose a league match. Boasting a 14-0-1 streak heading into a contest against Federal Way FC on June 1, 2019, KFC were shocked by the visitors 3-2. FWFC had entered the match with a 1-2-0 record. The next week Kirkland would experience the other side of streaks for the first time. They lost 4-3 at Crossfire.

On the heels of both Nido and Kirkland, Snohomish County FC Steelheads are sporting an unbeaten streak of 13 matches over two seasons heading into their home tilt Sunday at 1 PM against Wenatchee All-Stars Football Club. The Fish went 7-0-3 in 2019 as they won their first WWPL Championship. So far in 2021 SnoCo FC are 1-0-2. Their streak mark is 8-0-5. Guess which two teams play each other May 16 at Dick Cardinal Stadium in Arlington? The Fish and Eagles may or may not still be unbeaten by that time, but both will be hoping to do more than 2019’s 1-1 draw between the two sides, a draw that has become a link in ongoing unbeaten runs.

The graphics below reveal this weekend’s schedule in the WWPL First Division.
